Chapter 26-8
A pushup 4-250 Kilowatt
Amplifier!

This is the second big project for the winter.
It will be modulated by a pair of 810's with a UTC
CVM-5 mod iron.
If you happen to have a 1956 14th Edition of The
Radio
Handbook, you will find an example of this class C amplifier deck on
page
566.
A B & W CX-49 butterfly cap and HDVL coils to
the coupling work for the pair of 4-250's!

Currently setup on 40 meters, a single vacuum cap
would be normally used. On 75 meters, the other vac cap would be
chosen.
Note the RF shielding used on the "trap" door!

Separate filament transformers and cooling fans are
used for each tube. The meters are shielded and an on board bias supply
were part of the original design.
This rig was used by a Detroit ham, W8WHC Robert
Crisler
of Pontiac. It was acquired by Paul, AA8OZ in the estate sale.
From
the workmanship displayed above, it is obvious he was very proud of the
transmitter! I hope to get it on the air soon and let it fill the
airways
with RF once again!
