The
shack has change a little. More emphasis on Pre-WWII gear
&
A little less Collins! St. James grey doesn't match the Black Wrinkle...

A panoramic view of my shack.
Since the "Gates 250GY" incident, my shack has changed a little.
Here are some new pictures!

On the left is the WRL station. This consists of a Globe King 400B
& TMC GPR-90 combination and a Globe Champ 175 & SX-25 combo.
The main station with the T-200
PP HB Tx is a WRL Globe Champ RF Deck and an array of pre-WWII
receivers: HQ-120X, RME-69 & Super Pro 10. In the center is the Johnson 500 station with
a late SX-101A.
My main station
Taylor T-200 AM transmitter
The Big
Rig
Just some pictures of my
T200 project. Nothing new,
simply bringing back some photos that havn't been on the web for awhile.
Taylor T200's in PP modulated by 203Z's
.
The RF deck is done, a B&W
Butterfly cap in the tank circuit with a Johnson output coil.
The
modulator will be a pair of Taylor 822's in Class B later this fall.
Both the Class
C and Class B decks have their own power supplies. About 2000 VDC at
500mA is available for the T-200's and a 1250 Volt supply is used for
the Class B. The
transmitter is driven by a WRL GLOBE CHAMP 175 RF deck. That deck
is just a single 812A triode, 2E26 & 7C5 MOPA.
My 1940 Station
Used now on 160m.
The
1941 transmitter using a pair of Taylor T-40's PP and an 807, 6L6
exciter is finished.
It was featured in the March and November 1941 issues of Radio Magazine .
Here
are some new pictures with a schematic from the March article.
A National HRO5TA-1 is used for receive and Thordarson table top speech
amp is
located on the far left of the transmitter. Frequency control is
a BUD VFO-21 electron coupled oscillator. In the rack is a 1940/2000
home brew tx running a pair
of Taylor T-40's modulated by TZ40's. Thordarson CHT iron weighs down
the bottom of the rack! (A 1936 MacElroy bug, trim "cans" & a
pre-war D-104 is on the desk.)
My workshop
Looks like a Ranger is getting the work-over!

I spend some of my "free time" working on gear for other people who are
into vintage gear. Using old radios on the air is really fun, but only
modern test equipment will keep them dependable!
If
you need some repairs done, drop me an e-mail!
